The Difference Between Server Cabinets And Network Cabinets

2024-06-19

Server cabinets are designed to store servers, usually equipped with stable power supply and powerful cooling systems to ensure the normal operation of servers. At the same time, they also have features such as supporting multiple devices, multiple network protocols, management, and reliability.

Network cabinets are specifically designed to store network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, etc. They usually have high density, small size, effective anti-interference ability, and excellent heat dissipation performance, providing a safe and stable working environment for network equipment.

Choosing the right cabinet is crucial for the normal operation of the entire data center facility and the long-term use of equipment. Incorrect cabinet selection may lead to issues such as power, ventilation, and heat, affecting the normal operation of equipment. Therefore, the following factors need to be considered:

1.Dimensions: Select a cabinet that fits the space of the data center based on the size of the data center and the number of devices. There are generally two specifications: 19 inches and 23 inches. The width of a 19-inch cabinet is 482.6 mm, and the width of a 23-inch cabinet is 584.2 mm.

2.Weight: The weight of the cabinet is determined by the material of the cabinet and the number of devices. Cabinets with uneven weight require fixed brackets.

3.Heat dissipation performance: The heat dissipation performance of the cabinet is very important. There are generally two ways: static heat dissipation and dynamic heat dissipation. Static heat dissipation refers to heat dissipation through the ventilation holes at the bottom of the cabinet, while dynamic heat dissipation uses special fans to provide air circulation for the equipment.

4.Power supply: The power capacity of the cabinet and the number of power sockets should match the needs of the equipment.

5.Safety: The cabinet needs to have security measures such as anti-theft and waterproofing to allow equipment to operate in a safer environment.

We have introduced the difference between server cabinets and network cabinets, and also emphasized the importance of selecting cabinets for the normal use of equipment and the normal operation of the entire data center. Before purchasing cabinets, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the number of devices, the size of the data center, and heat dissipation performance to ensure that the selected cabinet meets the needs of the equipment.
