2. Gasket Materials
Gasket materials are used in the areas where outdoor distribution cabinet doors meet the frame and where access panels meet the body of the cabinet. The most common materials include neoprene, EPDM and silicone. These materials are resistant to low temperatures and do not degrade quickly from exposure to UV light. The foam is inexpensive and easy to apply. The foam is sprayed onto the entry point and then allowed to cure. Once cured, a waterproof seal is created.
